US: Escapia, Expedia Group’s property management software platform, has appointed Joel Schoen as general manager.
Schoen joins the business with almost two decades of experience across the vacation rental and hospitality sectors. He most recently served as principal at STR Ventures Group and chief executive of CiiRUS Vacation Rental Solutions, where he led the company’s global hospitality technology platform and its Love Rentals business.
His previous roles also include positions at Choice Hotels International, BookingPal and Luxury Retreats.
In his new role, Schoen will oversee Escapia’s strategy, operations and product direction, with responsibility for the platform’s ongoing modernisation and user experience.
Tim Rosolio, vice president of vacation rental partnerships at Expedia Group, said Schoen’s operational experience would help shape the platform’s next phase of growth.
Schoen said: “I’ve had the opportunity to work across hospitality, distribution and property management technology, and every experience has reinforced the same lesson – when property managers succeed, the entire vacation rental ecosystem benefits.

Founded in 2000, Escapia provides property management software for vacation rental operators and integrates with more than 75 technology and distribution partners. The platform became part of Expedia Group through its acquisition of HomeAway in 2015.
