Czechia / Germany: German motorhome rental platform FreewayCamper has announced that it has raised €4 million in an investment round in two tranches.
The company received backing from its existing shareholders, including Rockaway Capital, Nomiverse, SEK Ventures and Miton.
FreewayCamper said that the funding would go towards supporting the company’s product development, expanding its partner network, and launching new services to deliver the best possible RV rental experiences for its customers.
It comes after the German company merged with its Czech counterpart Campiri earlier this year in the spring. As part of the merger, Campiri co-founder and CEO, Lukáš Janoušek, remained in the combined company as group co-CEO, alongside fellow group co-CEO, and co-founder of the German startup, Nikolai Voitiouk.
Janoušek said on LinkedIn: “I’m incredibly grateful for their [investors’] ongoing support. While there’s plenty of work ahead, especially in a challenging German market, every crisis brings opportunities, and this investment shows we’re fully committed to building a successful, thriving company.
“A huge thanks to our amazing team who work day in and day out to deliver excellent service to our customers and partners because we would be nothing without them,” he added.
FreewayCamper operates on a franchise concept, enabling dealers, rental companies and entrepreneurs to purchase a FreewayCamper franchise and operate a rental company under the brand. It has branches and franchises in both Germany and Italy.
The goal for the merger was to create the largest player in the motorhome rental field in Central Europe and one of the largest in the pan-European market.
