US: Sharp NEC Display Solutions has announced that its short-term rental digital concierge service, GuestView Guide, will be discontinued on 31 October 2024.
According to a FAQ page on the GuestView website, the business is closing due to “a need to align with parent company, Sharp NEC’s, broader vision for the future”.
The page also confirms that the business will be fulfilling all existing bookings made up until 31 October 2023 and that it can cancel and refund payments if customers no longer want to purchase their device/s as a result of the announcement. The GuestView Guide customer success team will also be available to address customer questions and concerns or provide transition assistance up until its final day of operation next year.
Founded in 2000, GuestView Guide was built to fill a gap in the technologies available to vacation rental management companies at the time to provide informative and useful guidebooks to guests.
With paper guidebooks and pamphlets increasingly falling out of date, GuestView Guide’s digital concierge platform currently provides guests with an interactive guide that can be updated at any time with anything from local recommendations [e.g. restaurants, businesses] and attractions [e.g. activities], changing hours of operation, weather forecasts, home amenities, local art and image slideshows, and specials.
As a wall-mounted interactive virtual concierge, GuestView Guide set out to help vacation rental management companies earn more, reduce their operational burden, and delight their guests with highly personalised, uniquely local experiences.
