US: Joe Riley has formally taken over as chief executive officer of Casago following the completion of the company’s transition of former Vacasa markets into local ownership.
The leadership change was first announced in February and took effect after Casago completed the final market transitions in September.
Riley previously served as president of Casago and helped oversee the integration of Vacasa following the companies’ merger in May 2025.
Casago announced in August that it had completed the sale of all former Vacasa markets. Those destinations are now operated by Casago franchisees or other local and regional partners, supported by the company’s technology and central resources.
Riley said: “Now that we are through market transitions, our focus is on the continued success of our franchise partners and adding new markets.”
He succeeds Casago founder Steve Schwab, who will continue with the company as founder and chairman. His role will focus on industry advocacy and engagement with Casago’s franchise network.
Schwab founded Casago in Rocky Point, Mexico, in 2001 and developed the business from a single-market property manager into an international vacation rental franchise company.
Casago’s network now operates across hundreds of cities in the US, Mexico, Costa Rica, Belize and the Caribbean. The company did not provide an updated figure for the number of properties managed across its franchise network.
The leadership change completes a restructuring that followed Casago’s acquisition of Vacasa, which combined Casago’s locally owned franchise model with Vacasa’s previously centralised property management business.
