Poland moves to tighten short-term rental rules with proposed licensing overhaul

Poland: Poland is preparing to introduce tighter regulations for short-term rentals, with proposed changes set to introduce mandatory registration and stricter compliance requirements for operators.

Under the draft legislation, all short-term rental properties would be required to register on a central database, with fines of up to PLN 50,000 for non-compliance. Local authorities would also gain the power to restrict or prohibit short-term rentals in designated areas.

The proposals include new safety thresholds relating to unit size and occupancy, which could limit the number of properties able to operate under simplified rules. Industry representatives have raised concerns about the lack of transitional provisions for existing operators.

The measures are currently under consultation, with industry stakeholders invited to submit feedback before the legislation progresses further.
