Rent Responsibly publishes 2023 sustainability report
US: To cap off Earth Month, short-term rental host platform Rent Responsibly has announced the publication of its 2023 Sustainability Report and Resource Guide and its new membership with 1% for the Planet, a global organisation that exists to ensure our planet and future generations thrive.
The report brings together the insights, takeaways, and replays from 12 hours of sessions at Rent Responsibly’s recent RR Summit: People, Places, Planet virtual conference. It includes data on the latest traveller trends, practices to make STR properties more sustainable, marketing and branding strategies, video and audio replays of every session, and additional resources to support industry sustainability and responsible renting efforts.
To celebrate its new membership to 1% for the Planet, Rent Responsibly will also host a special giveaway in which all who download the 2023 Sustainability Report will be entered to win $250 cash plus $250 to a 1% for the Planet environmental partner of their choice. Readers can enter the drawing and access the report here.
David Krauss, co-founder and CEO of Rent Responsibly, said: “We joined 1% for the Planet because responsible renting, by nature, means caring for people, places, and planet. The climate crisis should be a call to action for the short-term rental industry’s entrepreneurs and innovators.
“We asked ourselves: what are we doing to be part of the solution? We have to be forward-footed and committed – standing on the sidelines is not an option,” he added.
By joining, Rent Responsibly has committed to donating one per cent of annual sales to support organisations focused on the environment. Partners are vetted and approved based on referrals, track record, and environmental focus.
Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet, said: “Currently, only 3% of total philanthropy goes to the environment and, only 5% of that comes from businesses. The planet needs bigger support than this, and our growing network of business members are doing vital work to increase giving and support on-the-ground action. We’re excited to welcome Rent Responsibly to our global movement.”
By contributing one per cent of its annual sales, thousands of members have raised over $450 million to support environmental partners around the globe.
Founded in 2019, Rent Responsibly is a community-building and education platform for local short-term rental alliances. Its tools and alliance management services are designed to enable local leaders to build successful, self-sustaining organisations of short-term rental hosts, managers, and all other stakeholders in their communities.
Started in 2002 by Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard and Blue Ribbon Flies founder Craig Mathews, 1% for the Planet’s members have given over $450 million to environmental partners to date. Its global network consists of thousands of businesses and environmental partners working toward a better future.
