Unity Holidays secures approval for £20m Skirlington Coast redevelopment

Reading Time: < 1 minute

UK: Unity Holidays has secured planning approval for a £20 million redevelopment of its Skirlington Coast holiday park in East Yorkshire, paving the way for a major expansion of the site’s leisure facilities.

The plans, approved by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, will see the holiday park transformed with a new entertainment zone, including a food and drink pavilion, promenade walkway and outdoor lido. The redevelopment also includes new swimming pools, cabanas, a splash pad, sports and leisure facilities, landscaped gardens and a feature piazza.

Unity Holidays, which acquired Skirlington Coast in 2024, said the investment is expected to create more than 120 permanent jobs alongside additional seasonal roles.

The redevelopment follows earlier upgrades to the park’s dining and leisure facilities and represents the company’s largest investment in the destination to date.

Planning approval also covers the change of use and redevelopment of the area currently occupied by Skirlington Market, which has operated on the site for around 40 years. Proposals to introduce 92 additional caravans as part of a second phase of the development have been deferred while discussions continue with the local authority.

A spokesperson for Unity Holidays said the company plans to begin work on the approved redevelopment as soon as possible, while continuing discussions with the council regarding the deferred caravan expansion proposals.
