ACSI buys naturist travel organisation Euronature

UK / Netherlands: Camping specialist ACSI has announced the acquisition of naturist travel organisation Euronature.

Following the transaction, the company, which lists more than 130 naturist destinations including campsites, hotels and bed and breakfasts [B&Bs], will operate under the ACSI Touroperating brand, which specialises in camping holidays.

It will also expand ACSI’s portfolio and strengthen Euronature’s international presence as a result. ACSI currently has a network of more than 10,000 affiliated campsites in Europe.

Pieter Melieste, manager of ACSI Touroperating, said: “With the acquisition, we are significantly enriching and strengthening our offer. We also see opportunities in the field of further internationalisation of naturist holidays, especially since Euronature has already laid a good foundation, especially in the Netherlands.

“The takeover is effective immediately and means that we are already busy preparing for next season,” he added.

Peter and Annie de Kruijf, the founders of Euronature, will continue to play a role in the company’s management for the time being.

They said: “We are very happy. We were looking for an interested party that could continue Euronature with the same passion and care with which we built it. We have found that partner in ACSI.

“In addition, the collaboration with ACSI offers advantages such as the annual inspections of the campsite offer by ACSI inspectors and access to advanced technical platforms, international marketing and sales,” they added.

On the eve of the pandemic, the naturist vacation industry was said to be on course to become a billion-dollar industry worldwide, while the American Association for Nude Recreation valued the sector at being worth $400 million a year as far back as 2014.
