France / Netherlands: Camping holiday booking platform Campings.com has secured €27 million in funding which has enabled the group to acquire its competitor, Bungalow Booker.
€22 million of the total new funding has come from an existing shareholder, Partners in Equity, which has been a shareholder of Campings.com since 2020. The remaining €5 million has come from bonds with Siparex.
The sum has allowed Campings.com to purchase the Dutch holiday park booking platform, Bungalow Booker, which offers over 700 holiday parks across eight European countries.
Bungalow Booker is the operator of two websites: BungalowSpecials.nl and FerienparkSpecials.de. The company’s acquisition takes the total listings under Campings.com to around 4,500.
Jérôme Mercier, CEO of Campings.com, said: “By bringing together the French leader and the Dutch leader, we are creating the European champion in online outdoor holiday distribution.
“This merger allows us to become a truly multinational company and to strengthen our value proposition to our hosting partners. This is a significant step in our development and we aim to continue bringing together the best teams in Europe who share our vision and ambitions,” he added.
Campings.com aims to exceed €200 million in reservations this year, following a 30 per cent increase in bookings throughout 2022.
