Netherlands / Scandinavia: Motorhome and campervan rental marketplace, Camptoo, has announced that it has acquired Nordic sharing platform Out2Camp.
Camptoo, which was founded in 2014 in the Netherlands, connects the owners and renters of campervans, motorhomes and touring campervans. Ranked the fastest growing travel company in 2020 [FT1000], Camptoo users have booked over 500,000 days in vehicles rented through the site since its launch.
The company is using the acquisition of Out2Camp to expand its campervan fleet in the Nordics, meaning that Out2Camp’s portfolio of vans across Sweden, Denmark and Norway will be available for rental bookings via the Camptoo website from the end of this month. Camptoo currently has more than 1700 vehicles listed across the UK and over 4000 in Europe, as well as an additional 400 listings across Australia.
Meanwhile, Out2Camp is believed to be the first sharing economy platform for campervans in the Nordics, having been co-founded by Frederik Rofors and Bo Christensen in 2015 in Denmark. Since then, it has built up a customer base of more than 10,000 travellers.
Martijn Peeters, CEO and founder of Camptoo, said: “The acquisition of Out2Camp is a huge milestone for Camptoo as we look to grow our international fleet. With Out2Camp’s current fleet of 400 motorhomes and campervans across Sweden and Denmark, our goal is to become the leading campervan rental platform in the Nordic market, with a fleet of over 1,000 in both countries by the end of 2022.
