Mexico: Emerging markets hospitality brand Casai has announced the launch of its new domestic product, Getaways by Casai, and plans to expand into new destinations across Mexico.
Getaways by Casai will be an extension of Casai’s existing services, offering guests a curated selection of spaces in leisure destinations to boost the domestic Mexican tourism market which has suffered since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The locations offered through Getaways will vary between houses and villas for families and small groups of friends who are looking for an escape from routine or work remotely outside the city. The properties will also give guests access to local guides, unique design features of the area, as well as services such as security, high-speed wifi and workstations.
The startup raised more than $48 million in Series A funding in 2020, and it has registered a growth of more than 40 per cent in domestic occupancy in recent weeks.
Nico Barawid, founder and CEO of Casai, said: “We know that, little by little, the recovery of the industry will take place to the extent of our ability to adapt to the needs to new normal. Getaways by Casai, is not only an alternative that will offer security to people who decide to stay with us, but also—we are convinced—will have a positive impact on the family economy of many of the people who live from tourism in these regions.”
Casai is aiming to grow the number of units offering through the Getaways product in more regions of Mexico, estimating that this will total close to 500 properties by the end of the year. Furthermore, it is set to expand into new Latin American markets by the end of Q1.
