Denmark: OYO Vacation Homes rental brand Dancenter has announced plans to invest DKK 350 million in its native Denmark over the next five years.

The company expects to use the investment for expansion and to bolster its technological capabilities.

Within the next five years, Dancenter plans to double its current portfolio of 8,000-plus vacation homes in Denmark, with a particular focus on Sjaelland, North and South Jutland. As part of the investment plan, the company will also focus on holiday parks and add around 50 parks to its current portfolio of 28 holiday parks within three years.

Dancenter currently operates more than 12,000 vacation homes in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Germany. Denmark has the highest number of DanCenter vacation homes followed by Sweden, Norway and Germany.

A significant portion of the investment will be dedicated to enhancing technological capabilities in a bid to improve both homeowner and customer experiences. Through innovative tech solutions, the holiday home brand aims to streamline operations, optimise property management, create homeowner services and features, and deliver a seamless booking experience for customers.

Gautam Swaroop, CEO of OYO Vacation Homes – the parent entity of DanCenter, said: “Denmark holds a significant position in OYO’s global portfolio. As a key contributor to OYO’s overall success, the Danish market continues to demonstrate potential for growth and innovation for us.

“The infusion of DKK 350 million is our effort to not only broaden the range of choices for travellers but also to contribute to the local economy by creating revenue generation opportunities and indirect jobs in the region as a consequence,” he added.

Peter Mortensen, regional business development head – East Denmark, said: “Our focus on specifically scaling our presence in Sjaelland, North and South Jutland is to meet the increasing customer demand for vacation homes in these regions, driven by steady growth of domestic tourism in the country and growing popularity among tourists and locals alike.”

DanCenter has recently upgraded its homeowner support services, shifting to round-the-clock assistance for homeowners across Denmark. Claiming to be the first vacation rental management company to do so in the country, the transition to round-the-clock support was introduced to ensure timely resolution of issues and address any safety and security concerns in a time-bound manner.

As of June last year, the brand had added more than 2000 holiday homes on its platform, in locations such as Vedersø Klit, Bønnerup Strand, Bork Havn, Gilleleje, Marielyst and Blåvand.

OYO Vacation Homes operates full-service providers Belvilla and DanCenter, as well as online marketplace Traum-Ferienwohnungen. In August 2022, the company acquired Nordic-based holiday home operator Bornholmske Feriehuse through DanCenter.

OYO Vacation Homes was rebranded from @Leisure Group in July 2019, following OYO’s acquisition of the Amsterdam-based firm two months earlier.
