US: Property management software provider Hospitable has raised more than $1.5 million in funding directly from its customers and employees, moving away from traditional venture capital investment.

A total of 100 people across 32 countries have invested, creating what the company describes as a community-owned model. The approach gives hosts, property managers and employees a stake in the business and influence over its future development.

Hospitable said the funds would be used to accelerate its product roadmap, including a $250,000 agreement with OpenAI to deepen its use of AI, expand the platform, and strengthen reliability and support.

The company reported that it now serves more than 18,000 active customers in 119 countries, with a fully remote team of 111 people across 31 countries. It recorded $22 million in annual run rate revenue, with year-to-date growth of 46 per cent, and said it processed $4.6 billion in reservation income for customers in 2024.

In recent months, Hospitable has introduced AI-powered tools for operators, launched Hospitable Academy as a free education hub for hosts and managers, and grown the Hospitable Hosts Community network. The company said these initiatives support its strategy to become a “super app” for short-term rental operators by consolidating multiple functions into one platform.

As part of its community-first approach, Hospitable has also launched the Community $HOST Grant, which will reward the ten most active contributors to its host community with $1,000 each month, subject to local regulations.

Pierre-Camille Hamana, CEO and founder of Hospitable, said: “Hospitable has always been built side by side with our community. Now that same community is helping to fund our future. There is no stronger signal of trust than customers choosing to invest their own money in the software they depend on.”
