Hutchings named as interim general manager of HomeAway Software

Worldwide: Ryan Hutchings has been named as HomeAway Software’s new interim general manager, replacing Cliff Vars in the role.

As part of his new role, Hutchings will be tasked with overseeing the integration of HomeAway’s principle software products, including Glad to Have You, Escapia and V12.

He brings with him 12 years of experience and expertise within the travel industry, most notably at Western River Expeditions and Rezmark Systems, VacationRoost, LeisureLink, BedandBreakfast.com and Rezovation.

In 2015, Hutchings joined HomeAway to head up the marketing division for BedandBreakfast.com and six months prior to that, he was promoted to become its general manager.

Vars has held various roles since joining the HomeAway Software team six years ago, most notably as Hutchings’ predecessor as general manager. He will remain at HomeAway in a different position, where he will be helping to integrate the recently-acquired Pillow and ApartmentJet solutions.

Vars said: “I am thrilled to remain a part of the HomeAway family, and I look forward to staying close to my HomeAway Software roots. I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with Ryan over the past several months, and have full confidence in his ability to lead this incredible group moving forward.

“Ryan has the right combination of industry experience, software expertise, and is relentlessly focused on helping customers be successful and grow their businesses,” he added.

Vars will continue to work closely with Hutchings through early 2019 to ensure a smooth transition.

Meanwhile, incoming general manager Hutchings said: “I am very excited to step into this role and continue working in the software side of the business. It’s an exciting time for HomeAway Software; the company is committed to these solutions and delivering more to our valued customers.

“I have always felt that if we focus on the customer, we all win,” he added.
