France: Paris is stepping up enforcement against short-term rentals as tighter regulations come into force.
Under the existing regulations, primary residences can now only be rented out for up to 90 nights per year, and all hosts must register their properties with the city.
Authorities are stepping up checks on illegal listings, with fines for non-compliance reaching over €100,000 in some cases.
The changes come as officials respond to concerns that short-term rentals are reducing the number of homes available for residents. Paris is estimated to have around 75,000 short-term rental listings, making it one of the largest markets in Europe.
France has also moved to hold platforms accountable. A recent court ruling means companies can be held responsible for listings that break local rules.
At the same time, new EU regulations will introduce a central registration system to help cities track and manage short-term rentals more effectively.
