UK / US / Italy: London-based private villa rental and custom travel company, Red Savannah, has acquired Homebase Abroad, a US-based company specialising exclusively in vacation rentals in the Italian market, for an undisclosed amount.
As the deal marks Red Savannah’s first acquisition, Homebase Abroad will transfer all of its bookings to the firm on 1 January 2022, allowing Red Savannah to expand its US clientele network and luxury property portfolio. The United States currently accounts for 45 per cent of Red Savannah’s business, making it its second-largest market.
Founder and director of Homebase Abroad, Mara Solomon, will stay on with the company as an ambassador.
Solomon told Travel Weekly: “We have had a thrilling 26 years of being a leader in setting standards for villa travel in Italy focused on ensuring our guests have the best vacation of their lives. We are delighted Red Savannah has honoured our success by acquiring our company.
“They have our complete confidence and we know they will take the same good care of our guests and our owners as we have. Our clients will benefit from Red Savannah’s expertise, not only in Italy, but in the most desirable villa destinations worldwide, especially now that villa travel has become an ideal vacation format,” she added.
In recent years, Red Savannah has been looking to build its portfolio, particularly in Europe, but it had not found a suitable opportunity until the opportunity with Homebase emerged.
George Morgan-Grenville, founder and chief executive of Red Savannah, said: “We have looked at several opportunities over recent years but Homebase Abroad was the first business we felt was properly aligned from both a philosophical and demographic standpoint. We are very excited about this acquisition which offers stunning new villa options in Italy to our clients, and a vastly expanded portfolio of luxury villas and custom vacations to Homebase Abroad’s clients.”
