India: A suite at the City Palace of Jaipur has been listed for guests to book on Airbnb – the first time that any royal family around the world has done so.
The Gudliya Suite at the 300-year-old City Palace will be hosting travellers from 23 November after Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh decided to offer a short-term rental stay there through the platform.
An Airbnb press statement said the move would be supporting empowerment initiatives for rural women through the Princess Diya Kumari Foundation [PDKF].
The platform adds that guests can book stays in the luxurious Gudliya Suite within one of the private sections of the royal palace, which was previously used exclusively for the royal family and their guests. The suite includes its own lounge, kitchen, bathroom and private, indoor swimming pool.
Airbnb quotes Maharaja Padmanabh Singh as saying: “I am thrilled that my family and I are partnering with Airbnb to bring the splendour of Rajasthan to life for travellers from around the world.ย
โMy own travels with Airbnb made me feel very welcome in new cities and cultures, and I am happy that the experience of quintessential Indian hospitality will be shared with others,โ added Singh.
The Gudliya Suite is available for bookings at the Airbnb website here.
