Germany: Property management platform Smoobu has launched a smart devices add-on that allows independent short-term rental hosts to manage locks from multiple brands through one dashboard.
Smoobu Smart Devices, powered by smart home technology company Seam, automates the creation and expiry of guest access codes according to reservation dates.
The integration supports more than 15 device brands, including Nuki, Yale, TTLock, KeyNest, igloohome, Salto KS, Tedee and Akiles. This allows hosts to use different hardware across their portfolios without managing each device through a separate application.
Smoobu said that removing manual key handovers and shared access codes could help hosts streamline check-in while reducing the security risks associated with lost, duplicated or reused physical keys.
Christin Schmidt, head of global partnerships at Smoobu, said: “Our mission has always been to simplify the daily operations of independent hosts.
“With Smoobu Smart Devices, powered by Seam, we’re taking smart lock management to the next level by bringing it directly into the Smoobu experience, making check-ins even more frictionless while giving hosts greater choice and flexibility across hardware brands.”
Smoobu plans to add further smart-lock brands to the platform and eventually expand the integration to include thermostats.
The Berlin-based company forms part of the HomeToGo Group and provides property management technology for independent hosts and short-term rental property managers.
The launch comes amid wider adoption of connected technology across the accommodation sector, as hosts look to automate guest access and manage geographically dispersed properties remotely.
