Campground OTA Spot2Nite notches $3m in Series A funding
US: Campground industry online travel agency Spot2Nite has announced that it has closed a $3 million Series A funding round of funding led by a Family Office based in Chicago, Illinois, in addition to several venture firms.
Spot2Nite will use the funding to expand its core team and invest in additional resources to support existing and upcoming property management system [PMS] integrations as well as distribution channel partners.
The company was built by a family of avid RVers to end the time-consuming “search, load, and find no spots available” single source booking routine prevalent throughout the campground community. By creating a centralised marketplace that aggregates real-time RV spot availability and pricing with filters to define rig requirements and preference selections, Spot2Nite can target an audience of more than 47 million campers and enable a consistent and efficient booking experience.
Sam Bruner, co-founder and COO of Spot2Nite, said: “Outpacing growth milestones has allowed Spot2Nite to earn this investment with goals to not only expand our RV spot inventory, but also develop the appropriate processes to aggregate availability and pricing of more robust campground lodging verticals like cabins, glamping wagons, and yurts which require many additional variables in terms of reservation requirements.
“This funding opens a new chapter of growth for Spot2Nite, and will invite new types of campers to use our website and mobile app platforms. It truly is a testament to the many campground and RV traveller communities that have supported our vision.
“I am incredibly proud of the team that we have brought together to build a world class technology platform,” added Bruner.
The Family Office said: “Spot2Nite represents an overdue modernisation of the RV and campground reservation industry, accelerating what independent campgrounds and booking engines have been unable to do: providing a consistent, modern experience for users and operators, a model that has defined the hotel, airline, and car rental markets for the last 20+ years. Spot2Nite’s team has proven success in other verticals that gives us confidence in their ability to execute and return value to investors. We look forward to continuing to support Spot2Nite in their growth journey.”
Skip Boudreaux of Acadian Capital Ventures said: “We are proud to partner with Sam and Terry as they continue to grow Spot2Nite as the premier RV reservation solution. Having followed Spot2Nite closely for two years, we are constantly impressed by the team’s tenacity and innovative approach to the RV industry with a solution and culture that puts RVers first.”
