UK: Luggage storage platform Stasher has secured £3 million in new funding to grow its network of more than 10,000 locations and accelerate the rollout of smart lockers across the UK and Europe.
The funding comprises approximately £2 million in venture debt from growth lender Gilion and a £1 million strategic investment from smart locker provider Hive Box.
Stasher will use the capital to add more marketplace locations, increase its marketing activity and expand its network of 24-hour self-service lockers.
Founded in London in 2015, the company emerged after co-founder Anthony Collias repeatedly received requests from Airbnb guests seeking somewhere to leave their luggage after checkout.
The business now connects travellers with luggage storage facilities across more than 1,200 cities.
For short-term rental property managers, the service is designed to address the gap before check-in and after checkout, particularly across dispersed portfolios where properties do not have receptions, luggage rooms or on-site staff.
Guests access Stasher’s smart lockers using a QR code, while the company manages their operation and monitoring remotely. Bookings are covered by a guarantee of up to £10,000.
Jacob Wedderburn-Day, CEO and co-founder of Stasher, said: “Stasher started because we saw this exact problem with Airbnb guests ten years ago, and it remains a challenge for short-term rental guests and operators today.
“This funding gives us the firepower to grow our wider network while adding smart lockers where travellers need more capacity or 24/7 access.”
Stasher already operates Hive Box lockers with StayKula in Kensington and Birmingham. It also works with Staycity Aparthotels in Dublin, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Manchester using earlier locker models.
Premier Inn has installed the company’s new smart lockers at 17 hotels across London, Edinburgh and Manchester following a pilot at its London St Pancras property in November 2025.
Bookings through the smart locker network are rising by 108 per cent month-on-month, according to Stasher. Its highest-performing location is generating £2,500 in weekly locker revenue.
Under the strategic partnership, Hive Box will provide an initial 100 smart lockers for deployment across the UK and Europe by mid-2027. Its hardware and remote management technology will be integrated with Stasher’s booking platform.
Property managers hosting lockers can reserve them for their own guests, make spare capacity available to Stasher customers or combine both models. Stasher owns and finances the hardware and manages its ongoing operation.
