Dubai: The largest online travel marketplace in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Wego, has announced it will work with HomeAway to include its collection of worldwide properties in Wego’s search results.
The Dubai-based company, which has more than 13 million app downloads, has entered into the arrangement as it wants to provide its users with a wider choice of homes and apartments for rent.
Travellers will have access to over two million unique places to stay in at their disposal, spanning across 190 countries through the HomeAway platform, by entering their destination city, dates of travel and following the recommended filters on Wego’s metasearch apps and websites.
Anna Trushkina, director of hotels at Wego said: “We are delighted to work with HomeAway to cater to our customers’ needs and provide them with a wide selection of alternative accommodation.
“Homes availability is a great addition to hotel accommodation options, especially in urban destinations like Paris, London, New York and some regional destinations like Marrakesh, Beirut, Amman, Istanbul and others as trips to these cities planned on Wego are normally longer, six nights and more on average,” she added.
Wego aims to compare a range of accommodation options available in the marketplace, including hotels, serviced apartments, homes and villas, as well as to compare rates across local and global travel agencies, hotel direct websites and other accommodation merchants.
Christophe Pingard, vice president of EMEA at HomeAway, said: “HomeAway is thrilled with this new opportunity of bringing our unique places to stay to Wego´s MENA users. This new relationship contributes to our original mission of making every holiday rental in the world available to every holidaymaker in the world while creating the best holiday memories for families and friends.”
Anna added: “A quarter of KSA (Saudi Arabia) users are searching for more than one room during their trip planning on Wego. HomeAway vacation rental options make a perfect match with the growing demand for a larger place and a longer stay, we’ve been observing with our users from KSA and the rest from the MENA region.
“This alliance is in line with our efforts to provide a comprehensive search marketplace as well as expand the hospitality business in the region,” she added.
With additional partners now on board, Wego is seeking to expand its offering to customers with a comprehensive and diverse selection of accommodation, from hotels to villas, to castles and tree houses, and more.
