France: Eco-friendly booking platform GreenGo has announced that it has raised €3 million in funding as it seeks to establish itself as the leader in low-carbon holidays in Europe in the medium term.
The funding round was supported by investors including INCO Ventures [via its Abeille Assurances fund], Climate Leaders Fast Track, 4Ventures and a number of undisclosed business angels.
The investment will now be used to accelerate the company’s development in France and across the continent, including building an ultimate platform that facilitates low-impact trips.
GreenGo co-founder Guillaume Jouffre said on LinkedIn that it would enable his company to “achieve our mission and to contribute to the decarbonisation of tourism”.
After its founding in 2021 as “the French alternative to Airbnb and Booking.com”, it represents GreenGo’s second funding round, having raised €1.2 million in June 2022. That same month, the startup acquired competing accommodation platform Vaovert to consolidate and strengthen its domestic position.
Individuals who sign up to offer their accommodation on the GreenGo platform must sign the company’s charter and are encouraged to meet 100 criteria that are inspired by eco-responsible labels, including setting, energy management, water management, transport, food, purchases and water provision, and low footprint heating.
