US: Missouri-based developer KC Hospitality is converting a former Holiday Inn Club Vacations resort in Canyon Lake, Texas, into a 72-unit condominium development aimed at second-home owners and short-term rental investors.
The project, known as Limestone Landing, is being delivered in partnership with Currier & Company Development and involves the redevelopment of the former Holiday Inn Club Vacations Hill Country Resort.
The developers said the scheme reflects growing demand for more affordable vacation homes that can also be used as short-term rentals, with owners able to occupy the properties full time or rent them out through platforms such as Airbnb and Vrbo.
The development will comprise 72 two-bedroom, two-bathroom condominiums across six buildings. The first phase, due to complete this autumn, will include 12 renovated units starting at $149,000 and 12 unrenovated units available from $99,000.
Around $1 million is being invested in upgrading the former resort, including improvements to the pool, playground, sports courts, barbecue area and other communal amenities.
According to the developers, the former timeshare resort already benefits from zoning that allows owners to use the properties as either permanent residences or short-term rentals.
