Airbnb reveals trending UK Easter staycation destinations

UK: Airbnb has revealed its list of the trending UK destinations where travellers are wanting to spend an Easter holiday staycation this year.

Scarborough in North Yorkshire came out on top after seeing a 300 per cent rise in the number of searches over the Easter period, with visitors flocking to the seaside town for its beaches and historic castle in particular.

Below that, destinations such as Weymouth and Lyme Regis in Dorset and Portsmouth in Hampshire have been trending in the last couple of weeks, as well as Fort William and Inverness in Scotland.

Airbnb general manager for Northern Europe, Hadi Moussa, said: “The Easter Bank Holiday weekend provides the perfect opportunity for Brits to take a short trip within the UK and explore more of the country. This Easter, some rather unexpected destinations have proved popular with staycationers as Brits discover what the UK has to offer beyond its major cities and well-trodden tourist attractions.”
