US: Booking data from Key Data shows that demand for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is spiking across US host cities with travellers opting for shorter stays.

Early short-term rental booking data for the 2026 FIFA World Cup shows growing demand across US host cities. The data indicated that travellers are booking shorter stays targeted closely to individual matches.

Forward-looking analysis from Key Data shows that the strongest early spikes of direct bookings are concentrated in Boston (up 869% year-on-year), Kansas City (606%) and Philadelphia (275%).

However, average length of stay has fallen across markets, with Boston falling by 44% year-on-year. Similar compression is visible across Dallas (40%) Houston (-29%), Philadelphia (-27%), Miami (11%), and Los Angeles (24%).

These indicators suggest that the World Cup has created demand for short trips with high turnover. Melanie Brown, vp of data analytics and insights at Key Data said: “World Cup demand is rising, but not in the typical short-term rental peak-season patterns.”

“We’re seeing bookings surge across host cities, but stays are getting shorter and more tightly clustered around match dates. For operators, that creates a significant opportunity, but only if pricing and length-of-stay strategies are aligned with this kind of high-intensity, short-duration demand,” Brown added.

Highlights:

  • Key Data analysis shows major spikes in bookings per property across host markets.
  • Shorter trips signal hotel-style demand patterns.
  • Demand across US markets is on the rise but average length of stay has fallen.
