Pikl partners with Sykes for specialist holiday home insurance

UK: Insurtech sharing economy specialist Pikl has announced a partnership with Sykes Holiday Cottages, an independent holiday cottage rental agency.

As a result, Sykes’ holiday home owners will be introduced to Pikl’s specialist holiday home insurance, through its preferred partners programme.

Pikl’s technology gives homeowners access to a selection of insurers to choose from so that they can get the most appropriate cover for their property, all supported by Pikl’s expert customer service team.

In addition to liability cover for guest injuries, Pikl’s holiday home product provides cover for malicious damage and theft caused by paying guests, which many standard holiday home insurance policies either do not include or is provided at an additional cost.

Louise Birritteri, founder and CEO of Pikl, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Sykes. We can now provide Sykes holiday home owners access to the most appropriate products and cover for their holiday let.

“Not all holiday home insurance policies are the same, and we believe this new relationship will enable Sykes’ new and existing holiday home owners to get the comprehensive cover they need,” she added.

Harriet Kerr, commercial director at Sykes Holiday Cottages, said: “We want to ensure that all of our property owners have access to good cover for their property and the type of letting they provide, hence our partnership with Pikl. Nobody wants anything to go wrong when letting out their holiday home.

“But, in the rare instances that it does happen, it’s good to know that our property owners will be protected financially,” she added.

Sykes Holiday Cottages has completed a number of acquisitions this year, including purchasing a controlling stake in cabin owner and operator, Forest Holidays, in April, and buying static caravan rental website UKcaravans4hire in June as it becomes a more diversified holiday specialist group.
