UK: Independent villa and boutique hotel operator, Simpson Travel, is planning to grow its footprint further in Europe by expanding in Spain and Portugal.
The company, in which private equity firm Risk Capital Partners [RCP] bought an undisclosed stake in March, currently operates in destinations such as France, Corsica, Greece, Italy, Majorca and Turkey.
It came as RCP founder Luke Johnson recently told Xeinadin’s Leaders in Travel Summit that Simpson Travel would “move into Portugal and Spain, mainly with villas, and we want to add more in Italy and France”.
At the time of the aforementioned transaction earlier this year, it was announced that former Hotelplan UK chief executive Paul Carter would join the Simpson Travel board as chairman. Operations director Ed Pyke was promoted to the role of managing director.
Founder Graham Simpson continues to serve as an adviser to the board, while Dan Butler and Mark Speight were appointed as chief financial officer [CFO] and operations director respectively in August.
Pyke and Carter are speaking at the second ShortTermRentalz Summit in London on Tuesday 5 November – book your last-minute tickets now at this link.
