Worldwide: Cryptocurrency-friendly online travel platform Travala.com has announced that it will enable travellers to book vacation rentals directly with hosts via an integration with web3 vacation rental platform Dtravel.
Dtravel – the project that claims to be responsible for facilitating the world’s first on-chain travel booking – is a web3 vacation rental ecosystem powered by smart contracts enabling guests to book stays directly with hosts.
As two of the key projects leading the way in web3 travel, Travala.com and Dtravel both utilise blockchain technology to provide their users with a “crypto-native” travel booking experience that aims to reduce fees, empower users and make travel more rewarding.
The integration will see Travala.com launch a new ‘Homes’ vertical with the addition of Dtravel listings to its existing catalogue of more than 2.2 million accommodations, 600+ airlines and over 400,000 activities, expanding the company’s product range and cementing its status as one of the world’s leading web3 travel platforms.
As a result, Dtravel hosts will receive exposure to an extensive blockchain travel distribution network through Travala.com. Travellers will be able to book Dtravel-powered listings through Travala.com’s integrations with platforms such as Binance and Crypto.com.
Cynthia Huang, head of demand growth at Dtravel, said: “This integration will significantly increase the visibility of Dtravel listings. Hosts are already choosing Dtravel as their preferred solution to accept direct bookings and boost profitability.
“This expanded reach will make it easier for travellers to discover and book Dtravel listings, while giving Dtravel hosts a new channel to reach guests,” she added.
Travala.com supports over 90 cryptocurrency payment methods and integrated TRVL, the native cryptocurrency of Dtravel, in November 2021. More than 80 per cent of bookings placed on the platform are paid in cryptocurrency, according to the company, with Travala.com reporting that it sells over 8,000 room nights and 2,000 flights each month.

Vacation and short-term rental hosts will be able to register on Dtravel via email or MetaMask to start accepting direct bookings with expanded ownership, lower fees, more rewards and an expanded range of payment options.
