Under Canvas to invest $25m to elevate outdoor experiences

US: Elevated outdoor hospitality and events company, Under Canvas, is marking the tenth anniversary of opening its first camp by investing $25 million in enhancing its offerings at existing and new locations, in response to unprecedented demand for unique outdoor experiences.

The company now operates ten camps, and as part of its latest expansion, it will open a new solar-powered location 15 minutes away from Bryce Canyon National Park on 2 June. Spanning 750 acres of high mountain plains, Under Canvas Bryce Canyon will be the brand’s fifth location in Utah.

To elevate the guest experience, Under Canvas has partnered with lifestyle brand Bluestone Lane to bring in localised and sustainable culinary offerings in a number of its camps, ranging from “boutique coffees, premium espresso drinks, and iced and matcha beverages” to craft beer, expanded non-alcoholic and health conscious offerings, parfaits, sandwiches, wraps and salads.

Yoga and viewing decks are set to be installed at Under Canvas Zion and Under Canvas Mount Rushmore, while tent upgrades are due to be carried out at Moab, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Glacier and Great Smoking Mountains, in order to cater to groups and families looking for expanded outdoor amenities and their own private rental space.

Meanwhile, Under Canvas has entered into a partnership with automaker Rivian to install electric vehicle charging stations at Under Canvas Lake Powell-Grand Staircase and Under Canvas Moab to encourage people to adventure more responsibly by reducing their carbon footprint while exploring the country’s national parks.

Under Canvas CEO Matt Gaghen said: “We’re proud to be celebrating ten camps in ten years, and will honour our commitment to elevating the outdoor experience with a record $25 million capital investment across existing and planned locations. This funding will bring about new elevated culinary programming, lifestyle brand partners that honour sustainability commitments and experiences and locally curated adventure programming.”
