Vitur Summit and Sustonica team up to showcase sustainable living
Spain: Vitur Summit, a flagship European short-term rental event being held in Málaga, Spain [10-12 May] has set up the first showcase of a sustainable vacation rental at the heart of the event’s Convention Centre.
The Vitur Sustainable Living Experience, a showcase apartment by Kave Home and built in the heart of Malaga’s Trade Fair and Congress Centre, will be unveiled in collaboration with Sustonica, which launched in January and describes itself as “the first certification company tackling the sustainability of short-term rental homes”.
Equipped with sustainable features, the property serves as a model for reducing the environmental and social impact of holiday rental properties. Short-term rental owners and managers can improve their Sustonica score by adopting the sustainable solutions showcased in the Vitur Sustainable Living Experience.
These include using tap water filtering devices, occupancy sensors, digital guidebooks, toiletries free of micro-plastics, and eco-friendly towels and linens.
Carlos Pérez-Lanzac de Lorca, organiser of Vitur Summit, said: “We are excited to partner with Sustonica to promote sustainable practices in the short-term rental industry. Vitur Summit is gathering the most influential leaders in our sector and all agree that sustainability is at the top priority. It will take a central role in the agenda of the event.”
Sustonica CEO Vanessa de Souza Lage said: ”We are thrilled to collaborate with Vitur to showcase sustainable living in the vacation rental industry. The Vitur Sustainable Living Experience demonstrates that it is possible to create beautiful and comfortable holiday rental properties with little investment while reducing their environmental impact.”
The Vitur Sustainable Living Experience is open to all ticket holders and can be visited during the event. Vacation rental owners and managers can learn more about implementing sustainable solutions in their properties by visiting the Sustonica website.
