Vrbo to unveil “A Place for Together” ad campaign at Super Bowl
US: Expedia Group vacation rental brand Vrbo has unveiled the first look at “A Place for Together™”, a new 60-second advert that celebrates how Vrbo vacation homes are “a place for your people” and will debut during Sunday’s Super Bowl LVI.
It represents the first advert that Vrbo has created with new agency partner Wieden+Kennedy, making its US broadcast debut during the pre-game show and during half-time in Canada.
The Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams are due to face off for American football’s biggest prize at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, the home stadium of the Rams.
Set to the 1984 nostalgic tune “Right Where I Belong” by the Muppets, the advert follows families and friends who are like family as they “experience the powerful moments of togetherness that take place at Vrbo vacation homes”.
Hector Muelas, senior vice president of global creative at Expedia Group, said: “When travelling with Vrbo, who you’re with matters just as much as where you go. Our definition of family isn’t limited to people you’re related to; it includes anyone you love spending time with.
“When you see multiple generations sharing a meal, old friends floating in the pool, and young cousins embracing after a fun vacation together, you’re instantly inspired to get away with your favourite people,” he added.
This week, short-term rental data and analytics provider, AirDNA, detailed how Los Angeles and Inglewood were reporting significant short-term rental booking surges ahead of the Super Bowl.
Vrbo is running its first official TikTok challenge from 12-19 February and giving away three $5,000 Vrbo vacations to winners. To participate, users must post a TikTok video of them surrounded by their favorite people using the hashtag #AVrboforTogether.
Vrbo is once again a headline sponsor for the 2022 Shortyz Awards, taking place live in person and online on Wednesday 18 May in London. Short-term rental professionals can submit entries for as many of the 20 categories available as they wish and are eligible for at no cost at this link by the Friday 11 March submissions deadline.
