Airbnb named in top 20 U.S. companies for seniors

U.S.: Senior housing referral service and caregiver advocacy site, SeniorAdvice.com, has named Airbnb as one of the best companies in America for seniors in a study.

According to the last U.S. census, by 2035 one in every five residents will be of retirement age. Meanwhile, with the number of seniors on the rise, many companies are placing an emphasis on caring for the older generation.

Some of the ways in which the shortlisted companies show outstanding dedication to the senior community include providing job opportunities, supplemental income during retirement, unique retirement benefits programmes, special perks, and discounts.  The SeniorAdvice.com study sought to identify and recognise companies that display outstanding dedication to the senior community in the United States.

The list of America’s best companies for seniors includes: Rover, Kelly Services, Southwest Airlines, Lyft, Amazon Prime, Young Living Oils, Aerospace Corporation , National Park Service, Kohl’s, Airbnb, T-Mobile, Regal Theaters, Etsy, All City Management Services (ACMS), Honeybaked Ham, Spectrum Cable Internet, Upwork , McDonald’s, H&R Block and Orkin.

The majority of the companies on the list are named because they have excellent job opportunities for pensioners, such as offering temporary or transitional work for workers of retiring age or full-time, part-time and seasonal jobs throughout the year.

Airbnb was also highlighted because of the opportunities it provides for seniors to earn extra income in their retirement. It was recently reported that over-60s receive better reviews than any other age demographic who participate as vacation rental hosts through Airbnb.

SeniorAdvice.com founder and CEO, Ryan Patterson, said: “One of our main company goals is to provide helpful information and research which identify opportunities that will make their lives easier. We’ve identified this list of great companies for seniors to hopefully inspire older adults who are interested in pursuing second careers or would like to produce extra income from their daily hobbies.”

In addition to the best companies for seniors list, SeniorAdvice.com has released multiple rankings highlighting top places for seniors including: “Top 15 Cities for Single Seniors”, “Top 20 Cities for LGBT-Friendly Retirement in 2018”, “The Best and Worst States for Seniors”, “The Top 15 LGBT-Friendly Senior Living Communities in the U.S.” and “The Best and Worst States for Retirement Finances.”
