Airbnb unveils 2023 trending destinations for UK travellers

UK: Airbnb has unveiled its list of trending destinations in 2023 for UK-based travellers, including ten domestic travel hotspots in England, Wales and Scotland.

The list is based on recent searches made by prospective guests on the Airbnb platform for the year ahead.

Málaga in the south of Spain [and venue for the next VITUR Summit in May] tops the international list, ahead of Marseille in the south of France and Ibiza in the Balearic islands. Other holidaymakers looking further afield have the likes of Sydney and Melbourne in Australia and Auckland in New Zealand on their 2023 wish lists.

In the UK, the most popular destinations for staycations are Tyne and Wear in northern England, ahead of Edinburgh and Cardiff, the capital cities of Scotland and Wales.

Amanda Cupples, GM, UK & Northern Europe, said: “Our data shows that British holidaymakers are exploring both the nearest and farthest corners of the globe for their 2023 escapes, with the north of England and Scotland proving particularly popular for domestic holidays, while sunny Spanish hotspots top the trending international destination list. As the cold draws in, we often find searches for sunnier climates on the rise – and this year has been no exception – with beach and pool categories proving most popular.”
