Awaze UK names Ross Matthews as CMO

UK: Vacation rental group Awaze UK has appointed Ross Matthews as its chief marketing officer.

Matthews will join the firm in January 2020 from low-cost holiday provider Icelolly.com, where he currently holds the equivalent role and is responsible for marketing, media and marketplace teams.

Prior to that, he worked at MyTravel, Thomas Cook and Virgin Holidays in various digital, e-commerce and marketing roles over the space of 18 years in the travel space.

Awaze, whose platform includes managed vacation rentals, holiday resorts and cottages, will task Matthews with leading marketing campaigns and partnerships.

Chief executive Geoff Cowley said: “We are very pleased to have appointed Ross to the Awaze UK team. He brings a wealth of travel experience with him, having worked with some of the UK’s leading holiday brands, and will be responsible for marketing and partnerships right across the business.”

Matthews said: “The opportunity to work with market leading brands such as Hoseasons and cottages.com, in addition to joining the highly experienced management team, were key factors in my decision to move.”
