US: Campspot, a Michigan-based reservation and management software provider, has appointed Michael Scheinman as its chief executive officer.
The firm is also a leading online marketplace for RV resorts, family campgrounds, cabins, glamping options and more. Founded in 2015, Campspot was established to provide a modern online booking experience for campers and campgrounds, and it has development offices in Denver, Colorado, and Chicago.
Scheinman will focus on growing the company’s user and supplier base, while continuing to enhance the site’s products, features and functionality. He succeeds Campspot founder Caleb Hartung, who will remain an advisor and board director while devoting increased time to other ventures.
With more than ten years in the travel industry, Scheinman brings experience in e-commerce, technology and corporate strategy. He previously led Orbitz and CheapTickets, and acted as general manager for the lodging division of Hotwire—threeportfolio brands of online travel giant Expedia Group.
Prior to that, Scheinman held leadership positions in hotel partnerships, product management, marketing and business operations.
Campspot CEO Michael Scheinman said: “I am thrilled to be joining the Campspot team at what is a tremendously exciting time for the company and the camping industry as a whole. The past year has introduced millions of new campers to the outdoors; with 2021 shaping up to be an even bigger year, we believe we’re in a great position to reduce friction for travellers and campground owners, and make these experiences more accessible.”
Since its initial software launched, the site has grown to provide access to more than 100,000 campsites across the United States and Canada.
