Landal GreenParks UK adds two new resorts to portfolio

UK: Holiday park and resort operator, Landal GreenParks UK, has added two new resorts to its UK portfolio, bringing its total offering to 15 destinations.

The new sites – Landal Whalesborough Resort & Spa in Bude, Cornwall, and Landal Twin Lakes in the Lake District – will benefit from a multimillion-pound investment, while showcasing the Landal GreenParks experience and building on the strong demand for UK holidays in 2024.

Robbie Davies, development director at Landal GreenParks UK, said: “This is excellent news for the business, and we are thrilled to be adding two new resorts amidst of nature to the UK this year. The UK continues to be an important region for growth in the Landal GreenParks European portfolio and we’re excited about the impact of these geographically strategic additions to our offering, capitalising on the demand in these areas.”

Landal Whalesborough Resort & Spa, set in 450 acres of secluded Cornish countryside that runs down to the coast near Bude, offers a range of 24-character cottages, barn conversions and a refurbished farmhouse dating back to the 14th century.

Currently undergoing a multimillion-pound investment, the resort will see 50-60 new, luxury self-catering units developed over the next two years, adding to the existing range of accommodation. The onsite improvements are estimated to contribute around £10 million in the coming years to the local economy and include the creation of eight full-time and seven part-time jobs.

Landal Whalesborough Resort & Spa includes an onsite farm, its own Little Farmers experience – where children can interact with everything from alpacas and pet lambs to piglets and goats – a restaurant, spa, gym, and indoor / outdoor swimming pools.

Aligning with Landal GreenParks’ commitment to sustainability, the additions feature an onsite 60 KW wind-turbine at Landal Whalesborough Resort & Spa, a biomass district heating system for its cottages and barns, and a collection of new eco-friendly lodges.

Ben Nolan-Stone, managing partner of UK Country Parks, owners of Whalesborough Resort and Spa, said: “We believe that the UK staycation market is going from strength to strength and so we’re incredibly excited about being part of the Landal GreenParks portfolio.

“As a business, we are committed to operating sustainably. We pride ourselves on leading the market through our environmentally focused approach. By adopting sustainable solutions and practices, we minimise the impact of our resorts on nature, creating holiday destinations that embrace and nurture the environment.

“This approach is more important than ever as customers increasingly place sustainability high among their criteria when choosing their holiday destination. By offering resorts that focus on sustainability in a way that enhances the five-star guest experience, Whalesborough and UK Country Parks provides a stand-out offer.

“Partnering with Landal GreenParks allows us to reach out to customers that are attuned to this, and to the values represented by Landal’s Green Pledge,” he added.

The Landal Twin Lakes site includes two-storey, lakeside lodges with panoramic glass frontages, and expansion plans over the coming years will see 60 units become available for rental.

Markus Deutsch, chairman of Landal Twin Lakes, said: “We’re delighted about the partnership with Landal GreenParks – it’s clear our values align on various levels. All our lodges are made from timber harvested from sustainable forests and classified as contributing towards UK’s ‘net zero’ goal.

“Twin Lakes is located minutes away from scenic hiking at Warton Craig and within easy reach of some of the Lake Districts areas of outstanding natural beauty.  This secluded retreat provides peace and security where the outdoors and wellness are at one with each other with large modern accommodation that feature hot tubs,” added Deutsch.

Davies added: “We’re excited to work with the team in creating the next generation of holiday resorts where guests can get away from it all, embrace the great outdoors and make the most of the Great British staycation as well as look forward to working on our exciting plans for growth in the coming years.”

With more than 100 parks in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Great Britain, Austria, Switzerland and Czechia, Landal GreenParks offers a total of almost 14,000 holiday accommodation units and campsite pitches, attracting more than 3.2 million guests a year.

The company was acquired by Dutch vacation parks company Roompot last April, allowing the two businesses to merge and form one leading organisation for holiday and lodging choices for guests in Southern Europe. The merger was first announced two years earlier in June 2021.
