UK: Last-minute hotel booking platform LateRooms has announced the creation of a companion site, LateCottages, for the short-term rental industry.
Users will now be able to rent one of over 100,000 professionally-managed self-catering accommodation properties at the last-minute.
Rest Easy Group, parent company of the two sites, launched LateCottages last month in order to cater to the expanding holiday rental market in the UK. As the global pandemic has continued, holiday rentals have become a popular accommodation choice for those seeking a summer staycation.
According to the company, over 30,000 rooms were booked through the LateRooms site this summer, and similar numbers are expected for the launch of LateCottages.
Matt Fox, CEO and founder of LateCottages, said: “It’s an exciting opportunity right now since growing demand from customers exploring staycations in rural destinations requires more choice and value. Facilities such as private hot tubs, pools, enclosed spaces and the option of cooking a meal rather than going out, have driven much of the change in customer behaviour, and the range of accommodation we offer caters to a huge range of preferences and needs which are not otherwise met through other sites.
“We’ve partnered with the UK’s leading self-catered accommodation providers to create a marketplace that offers the widest possible choice of professionally managed cottages on one site. We’re thrilled to be able to offer this to current and new customers, who are looking for a different type of getaway this year,” he added.
Users can currently sign up for free, allowing them access to a variety of last-minute deals on single property rentals. They can also filter additional features, such as pet-friendliness and pools.
Rest Easy launched their first rentals focused site SnapTrip in 2014, as a part of its last-minute holiday accommodation portfolio. The group has since added Last Minute Cottages, Big Cottages, Dog Friendly Cottages, iKnow, and Villa Holidays alongside LateRooms and LateCottages.
