Hong Kong: Luxury hotel management group Mandarin Oriental has announced that it has taken full ownership of its branded collection of private vacation homes and mansions, and that it will operate the business independently.

Launched as a limited collection of eight properties in 2022, the group plans to grow the portfolio in the luxury villa market and simultaneously grow its base of ‘fans’ around the world.

In line with Mandarin Oriental’s strategic vision to be ‘Fans of the Exceptional, Every Day, Everywhere’, the collection will be rebranded as Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes to embody the brand’s service and heritage while continuously innovating the guest experience.

Over the past three years, the group has expanded the portfolio to 25 properties, with each home being meticulously selected for its “outstanding quality and sought-after locations, delivering exceptional service and experiences synonymous with the legendary hospitality of the award-winning brand”.

Mandarin Oriental will now focus its expansion on luxury leisure destinations, including European summer hotspots across the Mediterranean, winter retreats in the Alps, in addition to both summer and winter destinations in North America.

The collection will offer a variety of personally tailored experiences, from beachside retreats and authentic cultural experiences to wellness-focused stays, family-friendly venues and vibrant party settings.

Laurent Kleitman, group chief executive of Mandarin Oriental, said: “Since launch, these exquisite private homes have become a natural extension to the Mandarin Oriental brand, providing us with an opportunity to enter new destinations and introduce unique experiences to our fans around the world. Each hand-picked luxurious home fits naturally into our portfolio and in many cases, their locations provide opportunities for our guests to combine a hotel stay with a villa experience and explore more of the destination in different ways – all with the assurance of Mandarin Oriental’s award-winning brand.

“We are committed to bringing the full experience into the brand, expanding and enhancing our offering, and identifying many more private homes for our growing collection,” added Kleitman.

In May, the brand unveiled its expansion plans to grow to more than 100 properties within the next five years.

Since launching via a partnership with luxury vacation rental membership platform StayOne last March, Mandarin Oriental Exclusive Homes’ portfolio has grown by 150 per cent in the space of 12 months, with its curated collection of 20+ properties now spanning highly sought-after destinations across the UK, Europe and Asia.

Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes are located in popular tourist destinations throughout Europe, Asia and the United States.
