Netherlands: Hospitality platform Mews has announced a new partnership with Uber that will allow hotels to book and manage guest transportation directly through the Mews operating system.

The integration will enable hotel staff to arrange Uber rides for guests within the Mews platform, while also offering live trip tracking and integrated billing through the guest folio.

According to Mews, transportation remains one of the most common guest requests handled manually by front desk teams. The company said guests currently spend an average of $50 on transportation per stay, creating an opportunity for hotels to generate additional ancillary revenue.

The partnership was announced ahead of the company’s Unfold conference in Amsterdam, where executives from both companies are set to discuss how hospitality and travel technology are becoming more connected.

The integration is expected to include:

  • ride booking through the Mews platform and guest portal
  • live vehicle tracking and trip updates
  • automatic billing through Mews Payments
  • visibility into transportation activity and guest spending patterns

Mews said the system could also be used for staff transportation, including arranging rides for employees working late or overnight shifts.

Christophe Peymirat, senior director and GM of Uber for Business EMEA, said transportation forms part of the overall guest experience and has traditionally been handled manually by hotels. Mike Coscetta, president of Mews, said embedding Uber into hotel systems allows transportation to become part of the guest relationship rather than a separate transaction.

The integration is currently in development, with a pilot programme expected to launch later this year.
