UK: Workforce travel platform Roomex has added more than 172,000 self-catering properties to its accommodation inventory as it targets demand for longer project stays and mobile workforces.
The expanded selection includes apartments and houses, which can now be booked alongside more than two million hotels and B&Bs through the Roomex platform.
Roomex said the properties were intended for employees travelling for several days, weeks or months, as well as teams working in locations where hotel availability is limited.
The launch extends the company’s accommodation offering beyond traditional business travel and into the growing market for longer, flexible stays. Self-catering properties can provide additional living space and kitchen facilities, while allowing employers to accommodate several workers together.
The expansion adds another potential distribution channel for reaching business travellers and project-based workers outside the traditional leisure market.
Keith Watson, president of Roomex, said: “A hotel may be the right choice for an overnight trip, but someone working away for several weeks may need more space, cooking facilities and a routine that feels closer to home.”
He added that the new inventory would give corporate travel bookers more flexibility when project dates change or teams need to remain in one location for longer periods.
The properties can be managed through the same Roomex system as hotel bookings, including payments, travel expenditure and reporting.
The company has not disclosed the suppliers providing the newly added inventory or the geographical breakdown of the 172,000 properties.
