Worldwide: Uber will add vacation rentals via Vrbo later this year.
This news, released at Uber’s annual GO–GET product event in New York, comes after Uber has added booking options for over 700,000 hotels to its app, provided in partnership with Expedia Group.
Uber will offer member perks for using its app to book hotels. No clear details have been announced regarding what perks might be available for rental bookings and whether or not these perks might be set up similarly to those for hotel bookings.
“Life feels busier than ever – too many apps, too many steps, too many decisions and no signs of it slowing down,” said Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi. “At Uber, our mission is to reimagine the way the world moves, so you can spend less time managing life and more time living it.”
“Travel should feel effortless, and this partnership gets us one step closer to offering a seamless traveler experience,” said Expedia Group CEO Ariane Gorin.
“By connecting our two-sided marketplace with Uber, we’re bringing Uber rides directly into the Expedia app and Expedia Group’s lodging inventory into the Uber app through our Rapid API technology. Together, we’re helping travelers spend less time planning and more time enjoying the journey.”
Uber also unveiled Travel Mode, which offers recommendations for restaurants, tourist attractions, and reservations, along with delivery options to hotel rooms. The company also showcased Voice Bookings, an AI-powered tool that lets users request rides using voice commands.
