US: The team behind VRScheduler, a software platform for managing staff scheduling and operational task management for the rental industry, has launched a series of online cleaning certification courses to support the education and wellbeing of housekeepers and maintenance departments of vacation rentals, condos and boutique hotels.
Part of the proceeds from the course will go to the Vacation Rental Housekeeper Relief Fund [VRHP].
The courses, which are currently available in English and Spanish, teach workers to minimise the spread of Covid-19 as well as how to keep safe themselves whilst working within properties. Concepts are taught in easy to understand, bite-sized lessons followed by short quizzes to solidify understanding.
The courses were developed by experienced housekeepers and hospitality industry experts with content based on guidelines from the World Health Organisation [WHO], Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], Occupational Safety and Health Administration [OSHA], Food and Drug Administration [FDA], and the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries. Staff who complete the course are rewarded with a certificate, and businesses that commit to staff certification can inform potential guests with a unique verifiable badge number.
Jill Mason, CEO of VRScheduler and founder of Cleaning Certification, said: โWe developed the cleaning certification because primarily we want to support the front line cleaning and maintenance staff that go into hotels and rentals every day to feel empowered through easy to follow guidelines. We also wanted to support property managers to ensure their staff are clearly trained.โ
For every course that is purchased, $1 is donated to The Housekeeper Relief Fund, a not-for-profit fund set up in light of Covid-19 to provide support to housekeepers, many of whom are economically vulnerable during this time.
