Short Stay Summit to be launched in Barcelona

Barcelona: Following on from the successful launch of the Short Stay Show in March 2019, the organising team behind the show has announced the launch of the Short Stay Summit in Barcelona.

The event will take place on Friday 8 November 2019 at the Barcelona Hesperia Tower Hotel.

It is being delivered in partnership with the European Holiday Home Association, who will be holding their annual General Assembly at the show and inviting all of their members from around Europe to Barcelona.

The Summit is taking place in the European hub of technology for the short stay economy and will be welcoming more than 300 property owners and managers who will enjoy premium content across two stages hosting industry expert speakers and influencers from all over Europe.

The one-day show, which is free-to-attend, serves an exciting ecosystem of accommodation, technology, property, tourism and travel that will appeal to Spanish property and holiday rental owners who are looking to supercharge their short stay businesses.

The Short Stay Summit in Barcelona follows a similar format of the London event and will feature:

โ€ข EHHA General Assembly

โ€ข Two stages of content

โ€ข 20+ speakers

โ€ข 25+ exhibitors

Jim Curry, co-founder of Quartz Smart Events, said: โ€œWe are delighted to launch this new one-day show in the beating, technological heart of the European short stay economy. Feedback from our launch partners has been fantastic and we have big plans to make this an annual event at scale.

โ€œI have to extend a massive thank you to our Association partners, namely EHHA, Fevitur, Apartur and STAA, who are all key to making this happen. In the coming weeks, we will be announcing our line-up of awesome commercial partners who are bringing teams from all over Europe,โ€ he added.

Carlos Villaro Lassen, secretary general of the European Holiday Home Association, said: โ€œThe EHHA is happy to be part of the big short-term rental event in Barcelona where the industry, cities and European politicians can discuss how to create good regulation of the biggest accommodation form in Europe.

โ€œHoliday rentals creates opportunities and life in rural areas, opens the doors to house owners and tourists all over the world and creates thousands of jobs โ€“ but the industry needs fair, reliable and good regulation,โ€ he added.

Patricia Valenzuela, director of FEVITUR, said she welcomed the move that Barcelona was the chosen city for the celebration of this event.

“Catalonia is a pioneer region in the legislation of short-term rental,โ€ she said.

For Valenzuela, any actions that help bring visibility of the good work being done for the sector is ultimately positive.
