Tuesday 7 Feb [4pm GMT]: Breaking down barriers in the STR sector

Hosted by STRz editor Paul Stevens

[Sponsored by PriceLabs]

As a relatively nascent, non-traditional lodging sector, the short-term rental industry has largely grown up outside of the mainstream, creating opportunities for new hosts to welcome guests to their properties and alternative booking platforms to emerge that cater to the whole spectrum of traveller demographics. Despite that, barriers of entry remain for hosts and guests alike, ranging from racial, LGBTQ+ and religious discrimination, to a lack of accessibility for travellers with disabilities [e.g.ย mobility, vision, hearing, cognitive, individuals on the autism spectrum]. These will need to be addressedย to ensure the future viability of a sector that continues to professionalise at an alarming rate.
